Rand West Darts hits new targets in 2026

The revamped Rand West Darts Association is making waves both on and off the oche, combining competitive success with family-friendly fun.

The Rand West Darts Association (RWDA) is entering an exciting new chapter following recent administrative changes, marking a fresh era for the rapidly growing sporting body.

Having been officially affiliated with Darts South Africa (DSA) since February 2025, RWDA has wasted no time in establishing itself as a competitive force on the regional and national darts scene.

Despite being only in its second year, the association has already achieved remarkable success. At the 2025 West Rand District Trials, RWDA made history when all four available spots in the District Ladies Team were filled by its players – an achievement that firmly announced its arrival in the sport.

The association’s strong presence continues into 2026, with RWDA players once again forming the backbone of district squads. Three of the four players selected for the 2026 District Ladies Team hail from RWDA, along with three of the six players named in the District Men’s Team.

RWDA is now preparing for its second appearance at the DSA Nationals, set to take place from July 11–18 in Bellville, Cape Town, where the association will look to build on last year’s impressive performances.

Secretary of the club, Sophia Britz, stated that, unlike many traditional darts venues, the association offers a safe and welcoming space that is not centred around alcohol bars. While players are permitted to bring their own refreshments, the setting remains suitable for juniors and families, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for all.

Club nights are held every Friday evening in Loumarina, with the association extending an open invitation to players from Randfontein, Westonaria, and surrounding areas. Whether individuals are looking for a social sporting outlet, a new hobby, or a pathway to district and national competition, RWDA continues to provide opportunities for players of all skill levels.
