New soccer stars emerge at U17 tournament

Soccer players impress at a recent U17 tournament held by the Randfontein Local Football Association.

The Randfontein Local Football Association recently hosted a successful U17 tournament.

Acting secretary for the association, Mojalefa Molefe said despite facing some challenges, the event was a great achievement, and the association views these challenges as opportunities for improvement.

Molefe explained the Peace Makers Football Club from Mohlakeng, also known as Ba Bina Khutso, won the tournament after defeating the TUSA Football Club from Toekomsrus 2–0.

He expressed their gratitude towards Goldfields South Deep Mine, who was the main sponsor for the day. He noted they provided them with gold and silver medals, a trophy as well as two soccer kits. He also thanked Rand West City Local Municipality for the free use of the stadium for junior league programmes.

“We are optimistic that this tournament will continue to grow and attract more sponsors, allowing us to provide our teams with essential training equipment, soccer boots, and jerseys,” said Molefe.

He concluded by saying, “The association looks forward to continued support and participation in its efforts to develop young football talent in the community.”
