Messi’s magic fuels Andries Mahowa’s soccer dreams
Captain of the Randfontein Manchester United Football Club, Andries Mahowa, is showing the talent and determination needed to turn professional, drawing inspiration from global football icon Lionel Messi.
Devoted midfielder Andries Mahowa (19) dreams of becoming a professional footballer and looks to the Argentine maestro Lionel Messi for inspiration.
Andries is currently the captain of Randfontein Manchester United Football Club’s first team. His first experience with football started at his home village in Limpopo when he saw his friends playing in the street. After joining his friends, he noticed his love for the sport and subsequently his passion grew.
One of his proudest achievements is joining the Dithaka Academy at age 16. As his skills developed, he played for Beroka Football Club’s U23 team. He is now a proud member of Randfontein Manchester United Football Club.
“My favourite thing about the sport is motivating my teammates and being able to have friends who support me,” he expressed.
Sometimes, Andries experiences challenges that may set him back, including injuries. However, that does not stop him from reaching his dreams.
“To become a successful football player, you have to work hard and set your goals. You just have to keep on going,” he concluded.
