Randfontein boxing showdown thrills fans

An electrifying night at Randfontein Secondary delivered thrilling knockouts, hard-fought victories and crowned a new Gauteng Mini Flyweight champion.

Randfontein Secondary School (RSS) was buzzing with energy on March 27 as the African Child Boxing Promotion hosted an action-packed event that showcased skill, determination and unforgettable performances across multiple divisions.

Boxing fans were treated to a full card of bouts featuring athletes from across South Africa, including Gauteng (GP), KZN, Limpopo (LP) and the Free State (FS).

The headline bout saw Siphelele Myeza (KZN) claim the vacant Gauteng Mini Flyweight Title after a hard-fought 10-round contest against Tshepo Mokhele (FS). Myeza secured the victory on points, demonstrating endurance and technical skill in a closely contested fight.

In the flyweight division, Njabulo Buthelezi (KZN) impressed over six rounds, earning a points victory against Zolile Miya (GP) with a disciplined and strategic performance.

The lightweight clash delivered high drama as Cedric Chauke (LP) faced Lindokuhle Dlamini (KZN), with Dlamini securing a TKO victory after a dominant display that electrified the crowd.

The undercard also produced exciting moments. Letlhogononlo Molefe (GP) scored a knockout in the bantamweight division against Johan Prinsloo (GP), while Junior Mazibi (GP) won his mini flyweight bout against Magabandile Kraqa (GP).

Another closely contested fight saw Surprise Baloi (KZN) and Nhlangano Maluleke (LP) battle to a draw in their bantamweight matchup, highlighting the evenly matched talent on display.

In the flyweight division, Letlhogonolo Tsoei (GP) emerged victorious against Potego Lekgau (LP), further boosting Gauteng’s strong showing.

In the junior featherweight bout, Silvedor Vanicela (GP) delivered a knockout win over Zola Ndlangisa (GP).

The tournament not only highlighted rising boxing talent but also reinforced the importance of grassroots development in the sport. With enthusiastic support from the local community, the African Child Boxing Promotion once again demonstrated its role in nurturing the next generation of champions.
