Randfontein reigns supreme in West Rand derby

A spectacular 75–14 win highlighted Randfontein’s all-round dominance against Roodepoort in the West Rand derby.

Randfontein Rugby Club delivered a dominant performance against West Rand rivals, Roodepoort Rugby Club, this past weekend, with impressive wins across multiple divisions, culminating in a first-team triumph that secured the coveted Castle Bowl.

The day began with the U19 side setting the pace, beating Roodepoort 28–18 through disciplined play and clinical finishing.

The U21 match was a closer contest, with Randfontein narrowly losing 10–17 despite a strong effort, as Roodepoort held onto their lead until the final whistle.

Randfontein quickly regained momentum in the senior divisions. The third team recorded a commanding 34–3 win, while the second team followed with a 60–12 victory, dominating both offensively and defensively.

The highlight came in the first team match, where Randfontein overwhelmed Roodepoort 75–14. Tries came from all areas of the field, showcasing attacking flair and cohesive teamwork.
