Learners from Randfontein Primary School proudly represented their region at the National Regional Hockey Tournament, held in Krugersdorp earlier this month.

The talented group formed part of the U12 D2 hockey team, competing against some of the country’s top young players. The girls’ team included Leshaye Mecuur and Jace Arendse, while the boys’ team featured Marvin Mbokazi, Tlotlo Metswamere, Prince Munzhelele and Kuhlekonke Martens.

The tournament forms part of the broader schools’ hockey calendar, co-ordinated by structures such as South African Schools Hockey, which oversees regional and national competitions to develop young talent.

Competing at this level gave the learners valuable exposure and the opportunity to test their skills in a highly competitive environment while developing teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.

For many of the players, the tournament was not only an opportunity to represent their school with pride, but also an important stepping stone in their hockey journey as they continue to grow and develop in the sport.

Their participation highlights the strong sporting culture at Randfontein Primary School and reflects the dedication of both the players and their coaches to nurturing young talent within the community.
