More crime combating ops expected in Tshwane as 110 arrested

Gauteng police netted more than 900 suspects and recovered 15 illegal firearms at the weekend during anti-crime operations.
Spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said more than 110 people were nabbed by the police in Tshwane for various crimes.
These included business burglary, possession of an illegal firearm, attempted murder, robbery, attempt to escape from lawful custody and driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Masondo said the Gauteng police were on a mission to send a strong warning to residents who continued to undermine the rule of law.

“The law will have no mercy for perpetrators of crime, including those who incite violence amongst our community,” he said.
He said the people of Gauteng could expect more high visibility in their areas with road blocks, stop and searches as well as raids and confiscation of counterfeit goods, especially in areas recently affected by public violence.
“All arrested suspects will appear before different magistrate courts in Gauteng soon.”
