Mamelodi ladies score R50 000 in Easter sport tournament.

Chairman David Motau says Banyana Ba Style made their team proud by showing dedication without losing a single match at the event.

Mamelodi 11 Stars Ladies’ pockets were recently filled with R50 000 after winning the fourth Shaka Easter Soccer Tournament women’s division.

The team walked away with the cash prize on Sunday, after they won the tournament when they walloped Ramatlaotle Ladies 3-1 on penalties in the finals after a 2-all stalemate in regulation time at Soshanguve Giant Stadium.

A total of 16 teams from around the country participated in the tournament from March 9 – 31.

Chairman of the team and co-owner, David Motau, said the ladies made the team proud by showing dedication without losing a single game until the end of the tournament.

“The performance was under the leadership of head coach of Mamelodi 11 Stars Ladies, Nokuthula Mtshweni, who was recently promoted after she qualified for the CAF D licence,” said Motau.

The Mamelodi ladies’ first win was against Ga-Rankuwa Ladies by 2-0 then beat Raycon FC Ladies 4-2 on penalties in the quarterfinals.

Motau said the team was supposed to play against Sihle United Ladies, “but the team arrived 50 minutes late at the stadium, and we went through to the finals against Ramatlaotle Ladies”.

He said the commitment of the team and the win also were preparation for the start of the regional league.

“Our goal this season is to win all the games to gain promotion to the Sasol League,” he said.
