Local house star launches solo album

Bra Maria's passion for music started at the age of 14 when she started singing at school competitions.

A Mamelodi upcoming house music star and dancer known as Bra Maria has launched her first EP album, Mpulele after recently going solo.

Born in Rathoke, Limpopo, Bra Maria also known as Maria Vivecicious Madiba, then moved to Mamelodi where she developed her love for house music, .

Bra Maria’s passion for music started at the age of 14 when she started singing at school competitions.

She said and her mother would sing together while cleaning while other members of the household slept, and preparing a meal for the family.

She said her five-track album is a work of art as she has worked with the best in the music industry, such as DJ Mabulala Fashion-Tone and manager Cain Mokuwe, King Waza and Loadshedding, and Tshepo Ma Bike.

The songs on the album are Mmangwane Mpulele, Thola Boreledi, Kokokoko, Bophelo Baka, and Le Ngoma.

The Mamelodi East phase 5 resident said it was raining around March when the idea of going solo came.

Bra Maria recently launched her first EP, Mpulele.

She started working tirelessly in the studio on her beats.

She said her songs are about the things happening around her and people who are pretending to be good but are bad.

“The tracks on the album have a message to people to be careful because there are evil people out there,” said Bra Maria.

Her goal is to travel the world sharing her music. She is planning to release more albums in the future.

She said she was inspired to sing by the artists she saw on TV while growing up.

“That’s where my dream of singing started, and I am happy that my family supported me on the decision I took, and they are always by my side,” she said.

She thanked all the people who put time and effort into making her album possible.

Her message to the youth is stop doing illegal things and go to school.

She said the future is in their hands, they must listen to their parents, and never be afraid to chase their dreams.
