GALLERY: SAPS women honoured for their contribution

The event was aimed at paying homage to the women making a difference within the police force.

Mooikloof Maragon High School learners have paid tribute to the women in blue.

The grade 8 hospitality learners treated the Garsfontein women police to a breakfast at the school on Wednesday to celebrate Women’s Day and pay homage to the women who made the difference within the police.

Learner Jean-Marie Blignaut said it was important to acknowledge the important role women played in the fight against crime.

The officers were also given learner-made scarfs.

“The scarfs are meant to keep you warm during the long night shifts that you sometimes work,” she said.

Guest speaker Rabecca Mwale encouraged the women to be supportive of one another while understanding that they were different and beautiful in their own ways.

“Can you imagine if we all listened to the same music, that would be boring.”

“There is power in being yourself and understanding that there will never be any other like you,” she said.
