Family-friendly market brings winter cheer

Local vendors welcomed strong support as hundreds of shoppers browsed craft products, clothing, jewellery and food stalls during a winter market that also featured live music and family-friendly entertainment.

Hundreds of Pretoria residents flocked to a spectacular winter market on Sunday morning at Whisk Wine Bar in Irene.

The market drew crowds with its great mix of winter clothing, food stalls, lively music, and pet-friendly atmosphere.

Gugu Madlabane from Whisk Wine Bar said once a season, on the last Sunday of the month, they host a market. This month, it was their winter market.

Madlabane said the winter market has about 15 different vendors selling craft items from winter coats to toys, jewellery, and shoes.

“There is truly something for everyone when you come to the market. Each and each market has a different theme, and this month is winter. Our previous one was an Easter market,” said Madlabane.

She said their first market was the Christmas market at the end of November 2025.

She added that the market has something for everyone, including a play area for children, and the venue is pet-friendly.

Residential DJ ‘Nick the Greek’ kept residents busy with his lovely music, and he always makes sure to give a shout-out to all of the vendors.

One of the vendors, Megan Wilson, said she really loves the market because it helps grow her business.

Madlabane concluded that the next market is going to be the spring market, and it will be at the end of September. All of the details for the markets are posted on the Whisk Wine Bar social media pages on both Instagram and Facebook.
