Foreigner arrested for illegal possession of drugs

Centurion sees another criminal taken into custody.

The police are working tirelessly to fight the scourge of drug use and distribution in Centurion.

Yet another arrest was made at the Juskei Park Complex in Lyttelton when a foreigner was taken into custody on Monday for being in possession of methcathinone, informally known as ‘cat’ or ‘jet’.

The arrest followed a tip-off from members of the public after they suspected some illegal dealings in the area.

Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu of the Lyttelton police station said people should continue to act as the eyes and ears of the police and work closely with the community policing forum to rid the area of drugs.

He said people should get to know their neighbours and encouraged the public to notify the crime intelligence unit or contact the nearest police station when they suspected criminal activity. The suspect will soon appear in court. Investigations are underway.
