Running in memory of Mac

Thousands of runners flocked to Wonderboom Junction to participate in the yearly Pretoria Bobbies Marathon.

Thousands of runners took to the streets on Saturday morning in memory of Brigadier Mac McLachlan, who died of brain cancer last year.

The Pretoria Bobbies/Mac McLachlan 3-in-1 memorial run and walk, kicked off at Wonderboom Junction at around 05:30. Runners and walkers could choose between a 5km, 10km and 21km challenge.

The Pretoria Bobbies Marathon is an annual event that started in 2011. This year’s event honoured Brigadier McLachlan, who served as the Bobbie’s chairperson for three years and later also as their legal advisor.

He completed 17 various marathons as well as 11 Two Oceans’ marathons.
