Food and wine for the connoisseur

A unique wine and food selection was the perfect recipe for a successful wine tasting evening at Casa Toscana recently.

Casas Toscana created the right combination of food and special wines to create a delightful wine tasting evening on Thursday. Rogan Burmeister, the venue’s restaurant manager, carefully selected a five-course menu to complement each of the five wines that were tasted on the evening. Richard Carstens, a wine connoisseur, presented the guests with wines from Rhebokskloof. The wine comes from a wine farm situated in the historic Paarl valley, between the granite hills on the northern side of the Paarl Mountains, with an average rainfall of 650 mm per year to create a unique micro climate.

Winemakers Rolani Lotz and Francois Naudè have produced innovative and interesting wines by creating rare blends such as the Viognier shiraz and Mourvedre-Grenache shiraz, although this wineland mainly focuses on shiraz. All grapes are handpicked and sorted in the cellar and then punched down by hand. Casa Toscana was the ideal venue to present the unique wines from Rhebokskloof for guests to enjoy, with friendly staff and warm hospitality paired with good food.
