Two at large for alleged attempted murder

Two suspects are at large after allegedly stabbing a man in Mooiplaats recently after having an argument with him.

Two men are still at large after they allegedly tried to murder a Mooiplaats resident recently, police said. According to Constable Tumisang Moloto, the two men allegedly had an argument with the victim before they stabbed him several times in the upper body. “A 32-year-old man was arrested on the scene, but the other two managed to flee the scene as soon as police arrived.”

Moloto said the police were called by community members. “When we arrived on the scene, we found an injured man in his early thirties. He sustained stab wounds to the upper body. A case of attempted murder has been opened for investigation.”

Meanwhile, eight people were arrested for possession of dagga during a stop and search over the weekend. According to Moloto, the suspects had several packets of dagga on them, thevalue of which is as yet unknown. In another incident, four taverns were closed down for operating without liquor licenses in the same area.

Moloto highlighted that illegal tavern dealings were a challenge in the area, especially since many assault cases are reported as occurring at taverns. He further said the police would continue conducting stop and searches time and again to ensure that criminal activities were curbed.
