The black bags were discovered as the resident was walking with her dogs early on Thursday morning.

DA leader Helen Zille said she is looking into the allegations of the dumped DA ballots. She tweeted on Thursday evening:

“I was just have a quick shut-eye when the story of the dumped ballots broke. Auditors onto it. I am returning to results centre right now!”

The DA’s Mmusi Maimane told Rekord on Thursday evening that the DA has launched a complaint with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

“It is a real concern for us, we are investigating the matter,  we need to know how many ballots were found and where these ballots came from as well as how they landed up there,” Maimane said.

The IEC was not yet available for comment.
