The Lyttelton police and the management of Centurion Mall are working together to find a motorbike that was stolen at Centurion Mall on Wednesday evening. According to police, the complainant left his motorbike at a parking lot and when he came back the motorbike was gone.
Police spokesperson warrant officer Hero Gumbu said it seemed as if the motorbike – an orange/black/silver Honda CBR600 with registration BP83VCGP – was stolen while the complainant was doing shopping.
Gumbu also said it was not known how long the motorbike had been parked in the parking lot. He urged members of the public to be cautious when parking their motorbikes and vehicles at public places and to also opt for parking areas where there were car guards. He confirmed that a case of theft was opened and an investigation was underway.
Rekord tried to contact the mall’s management but could not get hold of the centre manager. According to security officials at the mall, the matter is being investigated and they will study the CCTC footage of all entrances to the mall.
