Residents in Pierre van Ryneveld should be on the lookout for oil on the road as a woman was nearly hijacked by three suspects after she skidded off the road on Friday night.
Khanyiso Kotelo, a resident from Pierre van Ryneveld, was driving with a friend on Kruger Street when their car started to skid off the road. “My friend and I parked on the side and we noticed oil smeared all over the road. We then noticed a Ford Figo parked on the side. The woman inside was screaming and she jumped over to the passenger side and got out of the car. That is when we noticed three men trying to break her car window with a small rock,” he said.
Kotelo said he immediately got out the car when he realised a hijacking was taking place. “As I was approaching the hijackers, the first suspect saw me and ran into the nearby bushes while the remaining two suspects managed to break the window. I yelled and swore at them and they both fled the scene and also ran into the bushes,” he said.
S&G Security, Lyttelton Sector 3 community police forum and the police were immediately called to the scene. According to Lyttelton police, the suspects had offered to help the woman after she parked on the side of the road. “The men offered to help while she waited for her mother as she thought her car was stuck.
