Shoot-out on Jean Avenue

Police were on Thursday afternoon still searching for two armed suspects following a shoot-out and car chase on Jean Avenue in Lyttleton.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale, police were alerted of a suspicious metallic silver Audi with three suspects.

“Upon their arrival, the suspects noticed the police and started to fire shots at them. Police then returned fire at the suspects but fortunately no one was injured,” she said. After the shooting, the suspects fled the scene, however police managed to catch and arrest one of them. “After arresting the suspect, police searched him and found house breaking equipment, Toyota keys, a master key and gloves,” said Mogale.

The other two suspects fled by foot and left the Audi at the scene. “We are investigating a case of attempted murder, house break-in and possession of house break-in tools,” Mogale said. Anyone with information regarding these suspects can report to the Lyttelton police station on 012-644- 8600.
