Two suspects, aged 29 and 39, are still in police custody after they have been arrested on Tuesday for vehicle theft.
According to Sanco chairperson, Nagesh Chetty, the men were spotted in Souter Street, Pretoria West in a red VW Caravelle.
“Community members saw the suspicious Caravelle and called the police. The suspects then stole a Venture at the Tshwane showgrounds,” Chetty explained.
Chetty mentioned that the police arrested two suspects, but the driver of the Caravelle is still at large.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Anne Poortman, confirmed that two suspects were arrested on the corner of E’skia Mphahlele and WF Nkomo Street on Tuesday with regard to vehicle theft.
“The Pretoria Central police arrested two suspects who stole a green Venture at the showgrounds. Police heard a report on the radio and as they were in the vicinity they followed it up.”
Poortman said that when the suspects saw the police they got out of the vehicle and tried to flee the scene by foot, but the police caught them.
“The suspects appeared in court on Wednesday but will remain in police custody until next week Wednesday when they will apply for bail,” Poortman said.
