City school praises Rekord for its help
Children of the Tshwane Pre-Primary School are safe again after the Tshwane North College repaired a leaking pipe after more than a year.
The Tshwane North College in the city centre has finally fixed the leaking water pipe that led to thousands of litres of water being wasted, following a complaint to Rekord last week.
The college attended to the problem a day after the newspaper approached it for comment on claims by its neighbour, the Tshwane Pre-Primary School, that the wasted water created a potential danger for children at the school.
According to the Tshwane Pre-Primary School owner, Ina Berg, the problem had been in existence for over a year.
She complained that all her attempts to get the college fix the problem had failed. Berg was also worried that the water leak would destroy her school building.
The college rectified the problem immediately after the Rekord contacted them. College spokesperson Johann Kilian then said the process to appoint a service provider to remedy the leaking water supply started last February.
Although the problem has been resolved, Berg said she would still need to dig into her pocket to repair the damages caused to her nursery school. “I will have to pay about R10 000 to repair damaged classes,” Berg said.
She added: “Thank you Rekord for the positive journalism that helped solve a problem that put me on a long and windy road to solve. The mere fact that you reacted was everything,” she said.
