Landlord attacks and kills tenant
A 58-year-old landlord is facing charges of murder after he attacked and murdered his tenant.
A landlord is facing charges of murder after he allegedly attacked and killed his tenant with an axe in Mooiplaats, a resident told Rekord.
According to a Mooiplaats community leader, the accused, a 58-year-old landlord, attacked his tenant (78) with an axe. “He went to his tenant in his yard and attacked him with the axe. He then went to another woman’s yard and tried to attack her too but she managed to escape from the house,” said Mpho Ramaremela.
Police were called to the scene after the incident. “We do not know why the man attacked his tenant. We arrived to find him being arrested by the Erasmia police,” Ramaremela said.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Agnes Huma, the attacked man sustained injuries to the upper body. “He was certified dead by paramedics on the scene. The accused is in police custody at the Erasmia police station. We are still investigating the motive for the killing. The man is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon,” Huma said.
