Another escaped criminal at large
Police are requesting the public's assistance in finding an alleged murderer after he has escaped from the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate's Court.
The police are appealing to the community to assist them in catching a 30-year-old alleged murderer after he escaped from the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court while he was on trial, police said.
Romio Nkomo Mathebula is facing charges of double murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and is considered to be dangerous. “His other charge include being in possession of an unlawful firearm and ammunition,” said police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.
Dlamini added that police suspect that Mathebula was helped with the escape. “A case of aiding a prisoner to escape is being investigated as it is suspected that he was assisted to escape from the court,” he said.
“He is considered to be dangerous and members of the public are warned not to confront him as he may be armed,” said Dlamini.
