Sabido acquires Afrikaans television channel
A new way to enjoy Afrikaans television programmes now available.
ASTV (Afrikaanse Satelliettelevisie), the exciting and versatile Afrikaans television channel, has been acquired by Sabido Investments (Pty) Ltd. The channel has been available on channel 151 of the OpenView HD digital satellite television platform since October 2013.
ASTV’s unique programming, which is mostly targeted at the Afrikaans community, is an exciting addition to the already all-encompassing versatility of OpenView HD. ASTV boasts an ample array of quality programming for the whole family. Viewers will be treated to a variety of programmes from music to cooking with a strong focus on embracing the Afrikaans culture and lifestyle.
Among the assortment is the very popular and one of the biggest angling shows in South Africa, Vaskap – an angling programme that is mainly about the art of fresh water angling in and around South Africa.
Viewers will also get to see landmarks, people, gardens and even visit celebrities’ homes on the lifestyle programme, In Die Kollig, hosted by Sarahann Doherty.
ASTV managing director, Jaco Ferreira said: “We are truly excited that we can reach out to a wider audience with this partnership with OpenView HD. The Afrikaans market has thus far received our rich content well, as it speaks to everyday aspects of our culture that people can relate to. We look forward to growing our audiences with this new platform”.
ASTV is one of 18 varied OpenView HD channels, ranging from entertainment, culture and lifestyle to children’s shows and education.
