Police arrest 13 suspects for dealing in drugs along with other 11 suspects over the weekend.

Pretoria West police arrested 13 suspects for dealing in dagga and another ten for other crimes they committed during the weekend.

Police spokesperson, Constable Lerato Ngomane, said that the Vispol Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Godfrey Zwane and his team performed an underground operation in the area while not in uniform.

“They received a tip-off of a Nigerian national who is dealing in drugs. They followed the lead and went to the spot where the drugs were to be dropped off.”

Ngomane said the police monitored the suspect. Since the police were not in uniform they managed to corner the suspect just before he could drop the drugs off.

“The police searched the suspect and found him in possession of dagga. He was then arrested and charged for dealing and being in possession of dagga. The suspect appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday along with the other suspects that were arrested,” Ngomane said.

She added that since the underground operation continued the whole weekend, with the K9 unit, 12 more suspects were arrested for possession of dagga.

“During the operation knives, scissors and screw drivers were also found.”

Ngomane said during the weekend they also managed to arrest 11 suspects for various crimes committed. Two suspect was arrested for malicious damage to property, one for pointing of a firearm and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, three also arrested for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, one for murder, two for theft and one suspect arrested for pointing a firearm in a domestic violence case.

“We urge the community to report domestic violence before it gets worse,” Ngomane concluded.
