A resident died after being electrocuted at his home in Johann Street, Raslouw, while he tried to fix the electricity in the early hours of Friday morning.
This comes after residents in Cenurion were left without power for days when several substations were targeted and vandalised.
According to Ward 70 councillor, Marika Kruger-Muller the man and his family were the only ones in the area who did not have electricity.
“The man used a aluminum ladder tried to fix the electricity problem himself. He was wearing an overall and gloves but was electrocuted while trying to reconnect his electricity. We appeal to residents to consider all wires as live wires, even if there is no electricity in their households, and to make use of technicians who are qualified to do the job.”
According to Ina Strijdom, DA-councillor the man touched a 11 000kV cable when he was electrocuted when the tragedy happened.
She further said the Tshwane electricity department appeals to residents to be patient when they are experiencing challenges relating to electricity problems.
The police were not immediately available for comment.
