Community joins hands to curb crime
Twelve suspects felt the full extent of the law after dedicated Brooklyn Sector 4 CPF took them down.
Criminals did not know what hit them when the Brooklyn Sector 4 community policing forum (CPF) took to the streets and apprehended 12 suspects for various criminal activities .
The CPF along with the Brooklyn police station on Thursday arrested 12 suspects during a clean-up operation in the east of Pretoria.
Almost 25 members of the community, seven police officers and a team of officers from the Hi Risk Unit security company met in Monument Park at 19:30 where they divided into two groups to sweep problem areas in the sector.
“The community, Hi Risk and police surrounded the Waterkloof quarry and left no room for suspects to escape,” Trish Scheepers, Brooklyn sector 4 CPF operations manager said.
According to her, dagga was also found at the scene.
The two groups then split into different directions and apprehended several vagrants at an empty house in Orion Street.
The groups also cleaned up the veld next to the KFC in Waterkloof Ridge, as well as Delphinus, Canopus and Cariena streets in the area.
Suspects were also arrested in Tiger and Fisant streets in Monument Park.
The operation finished after 23:00 with 12 suspects successfully nabbed.
“The community stands united against crime and by doing so we can make a difference in our city,” Scheepers said.
“The Brooklyn sector 4 CPF thanks the community, police and Hi Risk in particular, without them the operation would not have been such a success.”
Residents are urged to report suspicious houses, persons and vehicles to sector 4 CPF on 072-136-2911 or at csocbrooklynsector4@gmail.com.
