Metro police training SMS a scam
Tshwane metro police warn about false SMS’s providing metro police training opportunities.
The Tshwane metro police has made it loud and clear that the SMSs going around proclaiming that students can join the police academy are fake.
Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said the text message call on willing students to show up for training opportunities at the Premos Academic College on a certain date and time is a hoax.
Mahamba said they have received numerous phone calls and e-mails from upset participants who received these fake SMSs and warned possible victims to ignore these messages in future.
He said the academy is currently training 2 000 students.
“The most complaints we have received about fraudulent activities are scamsters who falsely advertise metro police job opportunities. Stay vigilant and remain cautious,” he said.
He advised residents to be weary when receiving any such details and urged them to report the scams to 082-891-8625.
