More than a hundred disgruntled residents of Eersterust took to the streets on Wednesday evening to demand answers from the Tshwane Metro about the constant power outages in the area.
Ward councillor, Ingle Singh, said residents decided to march to the site where municipal workers were allegedly working on the faulty feeder cables that caused the power failure.
“Residents are furious as they are struggling to feed their babies.”
“Eersterust has been experiencing power outages, that usually last between two to five days at a time, for the past three weeks due to poor maintenance,” Singh explained.
“The community demanding answers from the director of electricity as they feel they are the only ones constantly being left in the dark.”
According to Singh, Tshepo Tompa, a director of Tshwane Metro, was not answering his phone at the time.
Rekord earlier today reported about the power outage in Eersterust and Murrayfield that, according to metro, is expected to be restored by 06:00 on Thursday morning.
