Power restored in Valhalla after cable theft

Power outage restored in Valhalla after another cable theft.

Power had been restored to Broadway Street in Valhalla after overhead cables were stolen on Tuesday.

Residents were plunged into darkness for hours on end.

Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo confirmed overhead conductors were stolen and technicians were sent out to replace the lines.

Centurion had been the target of several cases of cable theft in recent weeks.

The N.I.V.S. primary substation in Nellmapius Road was recently damaged after cable thieves attempted to steal underground cables. The theft caused 600 meters of cable to burn out and this had a ripple effect that damaged the substation.

Mashigo advised resident to report power outages as soon as it occurs and report cable theft to the closest police station.
