The Sunnyside police and several security companies are determined to clean the streets of criminals in the east of Pretoria.
A crime prevention operation conducted by the police, High Risk Unit and ADT Security, led to several arrests in Lukasrand, Groenkloof and Muckleneuk.
Arthur Crewe of High Risk Unit said almost twenty police and security officers joined hands in searching people, vehicles and abandoned houses. “House-breaking equipment and dangerous weapons such as knives, hand-made knives, screw drivers and scissors were confiscated,” Crewe said.
“We plan to conduct these operations monthly in an attempt to keep our communities safe and decrease the influx of house robberies.”
