Residents to use water sparingly

Residents are urged to use water sparingly as reservoirs need to fill up.

Residents of Laudium are urged to use water sparingly as the reservoir cannot fill up, affecting high lying areas, the Tshwane metro said.

“The metro has dispatched four tankers to this area. The high lying areas in Atteridgeville and Soshanguve are also affected by the water interruptions.”

Various parts of Pretoria are still without water after vandalism and cable theft at the Palmiet pump station on Tuesday.

Rand Water said that water levels were gradually increasing at local reservoirs, however, it cannot be confirmed when water supply would be fully restored.

The affected reservoirs are:

• Rooihuiskraal

• Brakfontein

• Akasia

• Lotus Garden

• Magalies

• Soshanguve

• Mabopane

• Ga-Rankuwa Industrial area

• Erasmia

• The Reeds

• Hartebeeshoek

• Laudium

The metro had dispatched 17 water tankers to affected areas as an alternative plan.

Spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the tankers were to improve the situation.

“We are delivering water to affected areas as our aim is service delivery. It will improve with time,” he told Rekord.

The following areas are to expect the tankers:

  • Soshanguve (only block K, L and M)
  • Kalafong Heights and Hospital
  • Atteridgeville higher lying areas
  • Laudium
  • Itereleng
  • Erasmia
  • Rooihuiskraal
  • Mooiplaats
  • Christoberg
  • Claudius
  • Gerhardsville
  • Erasmia
  • The Reeds
