Daspoort burst water pipe repaired
The burst water pipe in Taljaard Street, Daspoort, has been repaired this afternoon, the City of Tshwane said.
A burst water pipe in Daspoort was repaired on Tuesday after Taljaard Street and Hendrik Street were flooded since Monday, city of Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said.
“The repair of the burst pipe was completed by 14:20 today [Tuesday, 7 October]. The flooding was caused by a 75mm asbestos-cement pipeline that burst,” Mashigo said.
Mashigo said the pipeline was isolated on Monday afternoon to stop the water from flooding and causing damage to infrastructure and private property.
“The water was mistakenly opened on Monday evening by a plumber on standby as a result of several ‘no water’ complaints in Mountain View. The water was shut again on Tuesday afternoon when the plumber who repaired the burst pipe arrived on site,” said Mashigo.
After several weeks with no water, residents raised worries that the burst water pipe will affect local water supply.
“Water supply should not be affected, except for the duration of the repair when the water supply was shut,” he said.
