Fake Mango Instagram account offers free flights

Mango airlines advises consumers of a fraudulent Instagram account, using the airlines brand and promising complimentary flights for 12 500 users.

“This is not an official Mango airline presence and the airline has initiated its removal,” said the airline in a statement.

The statement said the fake account is published under the name ‘Mango Airlines’ and posted the following bogus promotion: “First 12 500 followers get 2 FREE domestic flights to ANYWHERE in Africa or Europe. Follow us, post a snapshot on your page and tag us. T&Cs apply.”

The airline urged consumers to stay away from the fake account.

“Mango advises that consumers should not engage, interact or follow the fraudulent Instagram presence, nor provide any personal information vis-à-vis the disingenuous offer to any party outside the airline’s official communication channels.”
