Another murdered woman found

The Rietgat police are investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and hijacking after the body of a woman was found naked in Block X, Soshanguve.

The Rietgat police are investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and hijacking after the body of a woman and a fatally wounded man were found in a small bush near Block X, Soshanguve. This comes after the body of a woman was found naked in the area earlier this week. The deceased’s identity was confirmed by several friends of hers as Nolwazi Lubisi from Soshanguve Block R, a former journalism student at the Tshwane University of Technology’s Soshanguve campus.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena, said Lubisi disappeared on Monday morning after a friend picked her up at her home. “The lady was last seen chatting on her phone. A male friend of hers was with her in his BMW. We were called after her phone was found smashed near the gate. After a thorough investigation, we found Lubisi’s body, naked, in a small bush in Block X,” he said.

Mangena said a short distance from Lubisi’s lifeless body they found a man who was gravely wounded. “The paramedics were called to the scene and they took the man to hospital. He is currently in intensive care. We then interrogated Lubisi’s boyfriend, but he was in a severe state of shock,” he said. Mangena added that the BMW Lubisi’s friend was driving was later discovered in Block F, West near Red Onion not far from Giant Stadium.

Meanwhile, Lubisi’s friends have taken to social networks to convey their condolences to the family. They also expressed their disgust in the manner that she died. Her former classmate and colleague at TUT FM, Thizwihangwi Nemanashe, expressed his thoughts on the matter: “She just said happy birthday to me two days ago, and then yesterday I get the message that she was murdered in cold blood. She was a good person that I am grateful I got the chance to get to know, humble and always smiling. Why good people like her get raw deals in life is beyond my understanding, and the biggest injustice is that the law hardly does anything. RIP Nolwazi Lubisi, we will always love you.”

One of her closest friends, Ntebogeng Phakisi, posted on her Facebook page: “I keep calling your number but it’s on voicemail. I keep thinking I will hear your sweet voice again but it won’t happen. You are the only person I could safely call a best friend. From now on I will kick the word best friend out of my vocabulary because it doesn’t exist anymore. We painted the town red on so many occasions, shared the last piece of bread during our varsity days. You always put a smile on my face no matter how mad I was. I am broken beyond words. Rest in peace Nolwazi Lubisi, my best friend, my sister.”

Nolwazi’s family could not be reached for comment, but according to Phakisi, Lubisi’s funeral will be held this Saturday, 18 October at 06:30 at her home. The church service will commence at 08:00 at the Old Apostolic Church, Block GG, Soshanguve, she said.

Warrant Officer Mangena appealed to the community to help by reporting any information they had that could possibly help the police apprehend the suspects.
