Crime operation yields fruits
The Ga-Rankuwa police and the Tshwane Metro police stand together to root out bad elements of crime in the area.
A total of 110 people were arrested in an anti-crime swoop in Ga-Rankuwa at the weekend, police said on Monday.
Spokesman Warrant Officer Mathew Nkoadi said they were taken into custody for crimes such as the possession of stolen property, unlicensed firearms, of dagga , and drunk driving.
“This is a weekly joint operation between Ga-Rankuwa police and the Tshwane Metro police. We are trying to make our communities safer as well as root out the bad elements of crime in the area.”
Nkoadi said the arrested people were arrested at roadblocks, and in taverns.
“All the arrested people will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.”
Nkoadi said the weekend operation was paying off as the number of people being arrested was decreasing every week.
