Alleged Garsfontein house robbers nabbed

Three men were arrested on Wednesday after they have been terrorising communities for several weeks.

Three alleged house robbers believed to have been terrorising residents in the Garsfontein area for several weeks were arrested on Wednesday.

Warrant Officer Dave Miller, police spokesperson, said the men were extremely dangerous and might have behind several house robberies and break-ins in the area.

Miller said Sergeant Nico de Beer, head of the Garsfontein Crime Prevention Unit, made the arrest around 12:00 when he noticed and pulled over a suspicious bakkie driving along Atterbury Road.

De Beer called for police assistance and the three occupants were taken into custody.

“Police have been on the hunt for these men for the past three weeks,” Miller said.

“It is believed they had been operating in the bakkie as the vehicle had been seen in house robberies and break-ins.”

The bakkie was last seen in a house break-in in Constantia Park about a week ago.

Miller said the men had been arrested numerous times on similar charges.

The Garsfontein police were investigating.
