Two men were shot and wounded on Saturday morning after they apparently tried to rob a security guard in Doornpoort.
According to Mirna von Benecke, police spokesperson, the two robbers approached the security guard at a well known shopping centre in the area at approximately 08:00.
Other security guards noticed the commotion and immediately assisted their colleague. The two robbers fled on foot but the security guards gave chase.
“The security guards fired shots at the two robbers and wounded them,” von Benecke said.
Von Benecke said the two robbers were arrested in Amandelboom Road and transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
A case of attempted robbery and murder is being investigated.
