Three people were arrested for fraud and corruption after they fraudulently recruited people into the police.

Three people were arrested after they fraudulently ‘recruited’ people for the South African police service.

According to Lieutenant General Solomon Makgale, a task team probing recruitment corruption within the police made the arrests during the the week.

A 39-year-old woman who was arrested for her suspected involvement worked as a security guard at the SAPS head office in Pretoria.

Her accomplice, a 35-year-old man, calls himself  ‘Captain Mokoena or Mabena’ when he committed his fraudulent activities. “The third person is a 45-year-old contractor from the Tshwane metro. We are urging any victims to come forward,” he said.

He said the fraudsters took money from their victims, promising them employment in the police.

They will appear in court soon on charges of fraud and corruption.

Enquiries: Victims of the scam are urged to send an email to socnet.saps@saps.gov.za with additional information.
