Three men were arrested early on Sunday morning after police found unlicensed firearms and ammunition in their possession.

Three men were arrested on Sunday morning after police found illegal firearms in their possession.

Captain Pinky Tsinyane, police spokesperson, said members from the Johannesburg Flying Squad apprehended the men, aged between 38 and 47, on the corner of Olifantsfontein and Brian Mazibuko streets in Tembisa.

“The police followed up on information that led to the arrest of the men. They were allegedly on route to Mpumalanga to commit a business robbery,” she said.

Four firearms were recovered in a red Ford Laser that the three men were travelling in.

The three men will appear in the Tembisa magistrate court facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
