130 people nabbed by police

"The weekend operations are proving once more that whatever crime is happening in our area will be dealt with," said police spokesman Constable Tumisang Moloto.

At the weekend 130 people were nabbed in Erasmia for various crimes such as robbery, theft, public drinking and possession of dagga, police said on Monday.

“The weekend operations proved again whatever crime is taking place in the area will be dealt with,” said police spokesman Constable Tumisang Moloto.

He said these people were arrested during a stop and search operation as well as in roadblocks.

Moloto said police arrested 75 people with possession of dagga and five for theft.

“Twenty were arrested for robbery and 10 for possession of suspected stolen items.”

He said those arrested would appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court once they are formally charged.

“We appeal to residents and motorists to take it easy on the roads because this is a crucial season where many accidents happen, motorists must not drink and drive as that is illegal,” said Moloto.
