Boy (12) discovers mother’s body

An inquest docket is under investigation after a couple was found killed.

Mamelodi East police are investigating the death of Elizabeth Machaka (46) and her boyfriend who were found dead in their house in Mamelodi East, Extension 5 on Monday morning.

It is suspected the couple had an argument over keys. Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer, Michael Mbewe said: “The 12-year-old boy of the deceased heard gun shots and upon investigation he found the couple lying in a pool of blood. On arrival the police found two dead people with gun shot wounds and a pistol lying next to them.”

Police are investigating the double death.

In a different incident, a couple aged between 21 and 32 were arrested on October 27 for the murder of a man in his early 20s.

The couple were asleep when they heard an intruder in their house. “They woke and found the suspect inside the house and called the neighbours and started beating up the intruder,” said Mbewe.

The man died at the scene. Mbewe said residents should have called the police after they had caught the intruder so that the law could have followed its course. “The community should stop taking the law into their own hands. They are not above the law,” said Mbewe.

The couple who found the intruder in their home will appear on murder charges in the Mamelodi magistrate’s court soon.
