Alleged stolen goods discovered in Itsoeseng

Police in Soshanguve have discovered stolen goods that amount to R140 000 at Itsoeseng Phase 6 in Erasmus near Soshanguve.

Soshanguve police have discovered suspected stolen goods amounting to around R140 000 at Itsoeseng Phase 6 informal settlement in Erasmus near Soshanguve on Wednesday morning. The police said they made the discovery after they got tip-offs from concerned community members about suspicious people who often visited the house with several goods. Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi said at the scene they discovered among others, various expensive television screens, DVD players, microwaves and more than 11 sound systems.

“Some of the items found at the house were stolen in May around Mabopane, after several residents identified the goods that were stolen from them. These include goods like blankets, kettles and other expensive and valuable household items. In total, all the discovered goods amount to R140 000,” he said. Nkoadi said a 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene. “The man claimed he did not know the goods were stolen because they were brought to the house by some of his friends,” added Nkoadi.

Police are investigating a case of being in possession of suspected stolen goods. “We are currently looking for other suspects who might be involved in this case and the arrested suspect will appear in the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court soon,” concluded Nkoadi.
