A man was swiftly arrested by the Garsfontein police on Wednesday after allegedly trying to rob the Karoo Café on Lynnwood Road.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Dave Miller, said the man pointed a firearm at a worker outside the restaurant while insisting that he wanted water.
“It is believed he was trying to gain access to the restaurant in an attempt to rob it,” Miller said.
Constable Adriaan de Klerk was alerted of the suspected attempted robbery at around 10:30 and called for officers to assist.
Miller, W/O Michael McIntosh and Sergeant Lynette Erasmus rushed to the scene and found the man walking along Lynnwood Road.
“We approached him and found a firearm and knife in his possession. He also had a small amount of dagga on him,” Miller said.
The man will appear in court within the next 48 hours on charges of pointing a firearm, the possession of a dangerous weapon and the possession of dagga.
