Police wage war on crime

The Wonderboompoort police have made several arrests the last month in their vicinity.

Wonderboompoort police have made several arrests in the last month, including arrests for the possession of drugs, the use of drugs and the possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunition.

According to warrant officer Wanda Olivier, spokesperson for the Wonderboompoort police, a drug dealer was arrested when police, together with memebers of the the dog unit, seized cash and six bags of CAT, early this month. The arrest followed police receiving information and following it up to a room at a carwash. The 30-year-old drug dealer is a foreign national.

About a week later, a 23-year-old man with the alias of Scott, was arrested when he was found in possession of CAT.

“He is wanted for cases of theft from motor vehicles and theft in various areas and had been arrested previously in Villieria and Rustenburg for theft, house robbery and possession of stolen property,” Olivier said.

Last week, Wonderboompoort police responded to a case of ongoing domestic violence. Upon arrival, Pretoria Central police officers also showed up with a warrant to search the house for illegal firearms.

“Police searched the premises and found a loose standing safe with one handgun and three rifles inside, all of which were unlicensed. The owner claimed that these firarms were inherited and would go to the children in the family as a gift from their grandfather,” Olivier said.

The man was arrested for possession of unlicenced firearms and ammunition.Police seized all the firearms and ammunition they found on the premises.
