Vincent Bones takes the Idols crown
Former street kid Vincent Bones was announced as this year's Idols SA winner.
This year’s Idols SA crown went to Vincent Bones.
The 30-year-old worship leader from Pietermaritzburg was announced as this year’s South African Idol during Sunday’s grand finale at the Carnival City Casino and Entertainment Centre in the East Rand.
Bones stole the hearts of many South Africans with his heart-wrenching life story at the Durban auditions in August. After the deaths of his mother and uncle when he was a still a little boy, he left Eldorado Park at the age of twelve to live in the streets of Pretoria.
Bones later went to Boy’s Town where he acquired an education.
Universal Music managing director and Idols SA head judge Randall Abrahams said on the Idols website he was looking forward to working with Bones.
“We have two incredibly talented singers with mature voices who are able to cover a large spectrum of music, and I think that they both have bright careers ahead of them. We look forward to working with Vincent on his album,” he said.
Bones walks away with a prize package worth R1-million, which includes:
