Desperate thief hides in wardrobe
A thief was caught hiding in the wardrobe of an unoccupied house to avoid arrest.
A thief trying to avoid arrest has been found hiding in the wardrobe of an unoccupied house in The Reeds on Monday.
It is believed the man broke into the house to steel copper pipes and taps when he heard a reaction officer enter the house in Dormehl Street at 15:00. He apparently stowed away in the wardrobe.
Monitor Net operations manager Theo Petzer said reaction officer Fabian Fortune was patrolling the area when he noticed the open kitchen window of the unoccupied house and decided to investigate.
“Upon searching the house, the officer found the man hiding in the wardrobe in one of the bedrooms,” Petzer said.
The officer arrested the man on the scene.
Wierdabrug police are investigating.
