Local girl to attend international talent convention

A girl from Olympus has recently been invited to attend an international talent convention in the United States of America.

Janike Joubert (9) from Olympus has recently been invited to join a selective group of talented young South Africans who will represent the country at the annual, international Actors, Models and Talent for Christ (AMTC) convention in Florida, United States of America in December.

AMTC’s SHINE convention is a biannual talent convention held in Orlando and attended by actors, models, singers, dancers and comedians from all over the world. It was established in 1982.

According to Adri, Janike’s mother, participants are all called by God to be role models and talent missionaries in the world’s most important mission field: entertainment.

“AMTC provides young talented singers, dancers, models and actors with an opportunity to pursue an international career. It is the place where connections are made. Acting, modelling, singing and dancing competitions provide a platform for new faces and talent to audition for agents, personal managers, casting directors, network and Broadway representatives, including music producers. AMTC competitions are judged by the industry insiders who come searching for their next big discovery,” Adri said.

Seminars, workshops and panel discussions are conducted by the agents themselves, and are packed with up-to-date instruction and advice.

Some of the agencies represented at AMTC include ABC, VH1, Walt Disney, Sony BMG, Elite Models, Sweetheart Records New York City, Capital Records, Discover Management Los Angeles and Cinq Deux Un from Tokyo, Japan.

Janike attends school at Laerskool Tygerpoort. She is excited about the opportunity and feels honoured to spread her wings and represent her area and South Africa among the best of the best.
