A Monitor Net reaction officer shot during a robbery in Centurion is recovering well and is in good spirits, operations manager Theo Petzer told Rekord.
Solly Chabalala was shot in the right shoulder when four armed men robbed a factory in Sunderland Ridge, Centurion, last week.
Two shots were fired through the door and one hit Chabalala. Upon moving away from the door, the robbers chased after him, firing five more shots in his direction.
“The general manager and I visited him yesterday and he is in good spirits. He is laughing and joking and said the criminals should watch out for him when he returns,” Petzer said.
Petzer said Chabalala is looking good but his wound is still healing.
“His wound has not healed yet and we are not certain when he will be discharged, but he is really looking good.”
During the armed robbery, the factory manager was tied up and assaulted by the four men.
“He was beaten with a hand gun and sustained fractures to his skull. He is still recovering in hospital,” said Petzer.
Petzer could not say whether the robbers had been apprehended.
“As far as I know, the men are still at large.”
Police could not be reached for comment.
