Police are investigating a fingerprint expert who had been caught on video footage stealing money from a crime scene on 20 December.
The constable was attending to a burglary in Pretoria North when he apparently sent an employee of the shop outside and allegedly stole the money.
Police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza said disciplinary action will be taken against the constable.
“Criminal and disciplinary proceedings will, in accordance with SAPS disciplinary code, be instituted against the member,” he said.
Suspension of the 29-year-old constable has been processed. He had been with the SAPS since 2008.
